Apple is now bringing huge app customization features on iOS 18 and iPadOS 18. You will be able to change the color and theme of an app icon. However, this feature has been present in Android devices like Samsung and Material You for several years. Material You came up with different icon themes on Android 12 and Samsung has had the feature of Color Palette for years. Additionally, iOS is also bringing a new dark mode feature which you can apply to the app icons. Not only this, Apple confirmed in WWDC24 that users are finally getting the feature of changing the placement of App icons which Android always had.

Apple is coming up with new features for Game Mode in iOS 18 and iPadOS 18. This mode will reduce background activity which will enhance the frame rates. Additionally, there will also be a latency improvement between gaming controllers and AirPods. Meanwhile, Android phones and other devices already have had game mode features for several years. Several devices automatically adjust the game settings. This has also resulted in an entirely new category of gaming devices.

Apple’s Control Centre was always quite rigid and didn’t allow users to personalize it, but that’s changing now. It will also have an interesting interface that enables changing the layout and adding and removing various options. Meanwhile, Android already did something similar a long time ago. Android 11 came up with device and media controls in 2020 itself. Therefore, Android is far ahead of Apple in this category.

However, this feature is quite similar to Google’s Gmail app which offers multiple categories. The new feature on Apple devices will be very helpful since many Apple users rely on the built-in app rather than using Outlook or Gmail.
