Google recently developed several new features for Indian users on Google Maps. It includes information on EV charging stations, flyover callouts, and other features. The app officials also said India is their main focus of innovation. Additionally, India is the first country to get features of EV charging stations for two-wheelers on the Maps. The features are starting to roll out on Android devices this week in eight major cities. It includes Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Coimbatore, Indore, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, and Guwahati as of now.
Flyover Callouts Feature

One of the most helpful features in the recent update is preparing the user for upcoming flyovers while driving. This new feature is majorly to reduce the need to decide about taking an upcoming flyover or taking the roads below. Additionally, the feature will soon be available on Android smartphones in 40 cities in India as of now.
EV Charging Stations Alert

Another recent update will also help in displaying EV charging stations across the country. You will also be able to see the plug types are supported at the charging station. For this, Google has teamed up with ElectricPe, Kazam, Ather, and Statiq and more than 8,000 charging stations will be displayed in India. Apart from this, the new feature will also be giving real-time availability.
Narrow Road Estimation Feature

Google is also launching a narrow roads feature to assist four-wheeler drivers avoid narrow roads. “We’re also introducing a new routing capability for Google Maps in India that will reduce the use of narrow roads in four-wheeler driving trips in eight Indian cities,” said Lalitha Ramani, general manager of Google Maps, India. She added, “Reducing four-wheelers on narrow roads means bikers who are using the two-wheeler mode, or pedestrians who are using the walking mode in Google Maps, can use these roads more safely.”
Metro Ticket Booking On Google Maps

The public will also be able to book metro rail tickets via Maps as it has partnered with ONDC and Namma Yatri. As of now, people can book tickets while traveling in Kochi and Chennai. The booking option will be available while using the app to check public transport directions in these cities. They can also check the journey details and make the payment in the app.
